Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information probatebrief.com and the ProbateBrief subscription (together, the "Service") collect, why, and the choices you have. The Service is operated by Chesapeake Commerce LLC, a Maryland limited liability company.
1. Public records in our lists
Our weekly files are compiled from public records: probate case filings in the Harris County Clerk's public court index and property records published by the Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD). They include names of decedents and applicants as they appear on court filings, and property and mailing addresses from appraisal records. We do not add phone numbers, email addresses or information from private data brokers. If you believe a record about you is wrong, or want to ask us to leave a record out of future files, use the contact form. We respond within 10 business days.
2. Information you send us
- Sample and contact forms: your name, email, optional company, the buyer type you choose and any message. Submissions are delivered to us through our form-delivery provider (Formspree) and used to send your sample, answer you, and follow up about ProbateBrief.
- Subscribers: your name, email and plan, used to deliver the weekly file and manage your account.
- Payments, once billing is set up, are processed by Stripe. We receive your name, email, plan and payment status, never your full card number.
3. Visitors
We use no advertising trackers and set no cookies of our own. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
4. Email
We email you only about your sample request or subscription. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying "unsubscribe"; we honor requests within 10 business days. We never sell or share your email address.
5. Retention
Sample requests and contact messages are kept for up to 2 years and then deleted. Subscriber and payment records are kept as long as needed for the subscription and for tax and accounting purposes.
6. Sharing
We share information only with service providers that run the Service for us (Cloudflare, Formspree, Stripe and our email provider), when required by law, or to protect rights and safety. We do not sell or rent personal information.
7. Security and children
Data is sent over HTTPS and access is limited to the operator. The Service is for adults and businesses and is not directed to children under 13.
